As a part of the process of departure, our cats Sunday and Muswell needed to qualify for the PETS passport program to be able to enter into England. It’s a process, I’m finding that is more complicated that obtaining a settlement visa, a N. Ireland birth certificate, and setting up a haulage company. It is also becoming more expensive than all three of these combined. However Once Upon a Time, I made a promise that I would bury these cats myself, no matter what the situation. Since that is the case, they travel with me.
The first step was the microchipping and rabies shot. That went relatively smoothly. Six weeks later, we had to bring them in for a blood test to make sure that the vaccine reacted correctly in their bodies. After that day of the test, the 6 month waiting period begins. (Not the day they get microchipped, mind you)
When we brought our two cats in, Muswell decided that today was the day he would Completely Flip Out. 25lbs, all claws intact, and really not amused. Naturally I got photos. It all started innocently, however it quickly devolved into the need for gas, 4 vet techs, a blanket and some shaving. The shaving was my idea since he won’t let me brush him so much right now.
This little visit? more expensive than a Communauto membership. More expensive than an ostrich skin wallet. However the ladies that helped us were tremendous, and thankfully my cats are now certified to travel to the UK without spreading disease and pestilence.
In October.
