A Life More Ordinary

Winter Walks: Clent Hills

Posted on: February 4, 2012

In an event I never really thought I would see over here, today it started to snow. Not like this kind of pellets-falling-from-the-sky-fake snow, but a proper snowfall. At one time this would  raise my blood pressure to extreme levels —  now it’s just delightful. We headed to the Clent Hills Nimmings Path.

It was absolutely beautiful, walking up the Nimmings Path. Usually in the summer the path is teeming with people of all ages and abilities. The Nimmings Path is designed to accomodate a wheelchair or stroller up to the top of the Hills, so the way up is slow and steady with a very gentle grade. Today it was quiet, the snow falling gently in the trees.

When we reached the top, it was quite a bit windier and signifigantly colder, but the snow was indeed lovely. We looked at the plaques, but didn’t make it to the Folly Stones.

By about this time Henry was getting a bit fed up with being cold. So we headed back down the hill for some Hot chocolate.

The path back was quick, however colder than going up. Henry had a well deserved Hot Chocolate and fell asleep in the car on the way home.

As of 10:45pm tonight, it’s still snowing and frankly I hope it keeps it up. But for now, I say goodnight.
